TCRWP Professional Development
Victoria (China) Education Group schools use best practices of the Columbia University Teachers College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP). Our students are involved in authentic reading, writing and phonics experiences that focus on the strengths and needs of each individual child. Through the TCRWP program, not only are students developing their reading, writing and phonics skills, but they are also actively engaged in the learning process and on their way to becoming lifelong readers and writers.
On Monday, April 22nd, 2019, Victoria Kindergarten Shenzhen (Futian) graciously welcomed Columbia University Teachers College Reading and Writing Project (TCRWP) Staff Developer, Ms. Dani Sturtz to the school. Ms. Dani Sturtz spent five (5) days in the school working with students, teachers, coaches and administrators.
Ms. Dani Sturtz is a Staff Developer at TCRWP and works with students, teachers, coaches, and principals in New York, other areas of the USA, and internationally. She holds an MA degree as a Reading Specialist from Columbia University.
In the TCRWP program, teachers use a mini-lesson approach to introduce new concepts in reading, writing and phonics skills. Students are then given time to work individually or confer in small groups on assignments specific to their reading, writing and phonics level. During work and conference time, teachers spend time with students one-on-one or in small groups, guiding the work and providing feedback.
Ms.Dani 向教师分享指导幼儿阅读、写作和语音技能的教学策略；亲自示范mini lesson现场教学。参加培训的教师亦有机会加入到幼儿的小组学习，与幼儿互动，及时指导并提供反馈。
